HISTORIC

The information on this race are few and rare, despite the appearance of the name and the breed has several differences compared to the standard known greyhounds.
These greyhounds are originally from Poland and probably descended from Asian sighthound, a dog similar to the Saluki. Certainly were not created from the English Greyhound.
Despite its rarity, the graphs of the entities to protect and rescue dogs are already showing scores for this breed in many countries. The reasons are varied, as it is for any breed, but some owners simply drop the dog after its maturity assuming no longer be appropriate to their homes.
These dogs are often possessive, protective and has destructive instinct. Occasionally, in adulthood, becomes aggressive or suffers from severe separation anxiety - or both!
It is believed that these problems have a distinct genetic background and can not decide with certainty that the Chart Polski is just a "Greyhound great."

APPEARANCE

Polish Greyhound have sleek, short coat may be of various colors. This coat is a bit heavier than the other greyhounds. This is because they have an undercoat that becomes thicker in winter. Polish Greyhound has a long brush tail and breeches on the back of the thighs. Its average weight is 65 to 95 lb, and independent of time, your hair looks smooth but is rough to the touch providing excellent thermal insulation. The chart is a canine breed polski not yet considered as a greyhound to be a bit different in terms of standard.
Though it looks similar in appearance, the pattern of race experts believe that this dog he is much stronger and less discreet and elegant way. It is a persistent hunter, with a long muscular neck, unlike the other greyhounds, and my head is high. Her large almond eyes always fixate on a point of view and the ends of the hip bones are removed. Your legs get closer, when it is moving in a slow trot, we give it the name "loop".

TEMPERAMENT

Polish Greyhound have similarities with other sighthounds. There are very active dogs, unless they have a definite purpose, such as, when they are chasing prey. In other respects they are very different from typical sighthounds. They can also be aggressive because they are trained to hunt wolves and can still be very territorial. The chart polski instinct is strong and has difficulties in accepting new dogs in the house where he lives.
They can be good guard dogs because they form strong bonds with their owners, some dogs that instinct is so strong that they do not accept that strangers entering the house. They like lots of exercise and daily walks are a good way to do this. They like to run, of course, and when they can no longer be used for hunting (lots forbid it), are used in dog racing championships.
They love beds and sofas. They are docile and easy to train, although they are stubborn.
This race will not be good for adat (adult dog) because they need early socialization and firm, as well as correct orientation of their owners.

HEALTH

His grave has no genetic history of diseases, but cancer and cardiomyopathy have been reported. Their life expectancy is estimated between 10 and 12 years, but some have come to live for 15 long years.

OTHER INFORMATION

The Greyhound Dog Polish is a big strong and muscular, his body shape is much more robust than those of other shorthaired greyhounds.
Its shape resembles its ancestor, the Greyhound Asia. It has strong bones, compact body, powerful jaws and prominent muscles. These are indications that the race was used in difficult weather conditions to hunt Polish hares, foxes, deer and wolves.
The eyes are of paramount importance for the breed, its expression must be sharp, alert and penetrating. The gait should be smooth and elastic, and correct angulation front and rear paws allows free walking pace or trot. Polish Greyhound is moderate, confident, reserved, and fearless. When in pursuit is fast agile and tireless. His reactions are swift and merciless.
